Project Quantity Surveyor – Refurbishment Projects 

Location: Barking, East London
Salary: Up to £60,000 + Car Allowance (DOE)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Notice Period: 4 weeks max preferred

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join a reputable and fast-growing main contractor specialising in refurbishment and external works schemes, with projects typically ranging up to £5m in value.

Our client, a respected contractor with over 30 years of experience delivering quality refurbishment, maintenance, and social housing upgrades, is seeking a hands-on and driven QS to join their commercial team based in Barking. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a newly secured external works scheme in the London Borough of Sutton, due to commence in late July.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full commercial responsibility for designated projects up to £5m

• Procurement and management of subcontractors

• Prepare valuations, CVRs, and manage cost control and forecasting

• Support site teams to ensure smooth project delivery

• Ensure compliance with contract terms and manage change control processes

• Liaise with the client, consultants, and internal teams regularly

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years' QS experience, ideally with a main contractor

• Strong background in refurbishment, external works, or housing schemes

• Able to manage projects from pre-construction through to final account

• Confident communicator and commercially astute

• Degree qualified or HNC in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)

• Proactive, reliable, and seeking a long-term career move

• Must be able to start within 4 weeks
